As you may have heard recently (or for many years), the Tampa Bay Rays are actively considering moving to Tampa. The Rays unveiled an elaborate plan for a new domed stadium that would take them across Tampa Bay to Ybor City at a cost of nearly $900 million. If implemented, this plan will reshape Tampa’s landscape indefinitely, but it does not come without significant challenges for the community.

Mike Griffin Bio – During his career, Mike has completed commercial real estate transactions totaling more than 5.5 million square feet across the globe for a diverse occupier clientele ranging from Fortune 500 companies to all levels of government entities.He also served as Chairman of USF’s Financing Corporation that oversees the bond financing for USF system projects. Under Mike’s leadership, financing transactions valuing more than $1.2 billion closed, resulting in more than 1.8 million square feet of projects. Thereafter, Mike chaired the national USF Alumni Association, and presently, serves on the USF Foundation Board of Directors and the INTO-USF Board of Directors, a Public-Private-Partnership (P3) focused on the strategic recruitment of international students to USF He is the immediate past Chairman of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce (“GTCC”) and was the youngest Chairman in the more than 130 year history. He is a graduate of Leadership Florida (Class XXVI), and in 2017, was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to the Tampa Port Authority/Port Tampa Bay Governing Board.
